Roberta Murrant Roberta is a skilled weaver, spinner and dyer with over thirty year’s experience. She is a graduate of the first class of Master Weavers from the Ontario Handweavers and Spinners in Ontario and has worked under the tutelage of many of Ontario’s finest fibre artisans. Roberta has explored the many faces of the fibre medium but is particularly skilled as a designer and has a current focus on the use of computer software to build upon traditional and historic weaving patterns for multi-harness looms. The Canadian Museum of Civilization is amongst the locations that proudly display her work. Roberta is also a teacher and has taught many years at Loyalist College in Belleville Ontario. She is a member of several local guilds. Anne Rombeek For Anne weaving is about a combination of precision, colour and texture. It combines a strong historical awareness with new techniques. While she has been actively weaving since her first lessons over thirty five years ago, her passion for textiles began as a child with an interest in sewing, embroidery and knitting. This was expanded through studies in Home Economics at Ryerson and weaving courses with The Ontario Handweavers and Spinners Association. . Anne was in the first class of OHS Master Weavers in 1987. She also has a certificate in Fibre Arts from St. Lawrence College. Anne’s contributions to textile art include commissioned pieces in Acadia University Divinity College and in churches in Kanata, Ottawa and Sioux Lookout. She is active in teaching the art of weaving to new weavers and exploring new weaving designs and techniques. Jean Down Jean's interest in weaving began at the end of high school when she took a weaving course near Warkworth Ontario and later, lessons at the Village Weaver in Toronto. Her interest sat dormant for about 20 years while she pursued a career in environmental consulting but found her way back to Fibre Arts in 1991. After studying with Anne Rombeek, she refound her weaving legs and has never looked back.
Jean has developed a special interest in historical weaves and the historical development of weaving in Eastern Ontario. Her current projects focus on using traditional overshot designs in a modern context. Some of our fun stuff.... © studio3fibrearts2007 | |
